New GlassMatix functionality supports independent assessors

Start Date: 17/12/2009

Independent insurance engineers and assessors can now benefit from a range of new report and letter templates within the GlassMatix estimating system. Glass’s has extended the functionality to streamline the vehicle assessment process, by drawing automatically on information entered into GlassMatix during the initial vehicle assessment, with no further data input required. Previously, independent assessors and engineers created reports manually, re-keying data for each letter or report, costing them additional time and money.

The extended suite of GlassMatix reports and document templates now includes an engineer’s report (outlining the repair status of the vehicle), an inspection fee note, and a repairer authorisation letter. Each report template can be customised to accommodate standard company details and letterheads.

“The combination of low subscription cost, free vehicle registration-mark look-ups, free off-line estimates and integration of Glass’s Guide valuations has always appealed to independent engineers and assessors, and these latest changes offer further benefits for the growing GlassMatix user-base,” explained Richard Gandy, Commercial Manager – Bodyshop and Insurance at EurotaxGlass’s. “Over recent months, we have been working very closely with a number of independent accident assessment firms to ensure GlassMatix provides the most efficient solution for their specific needs.”

Burchell Assessors, an independent firm of consultant motor vehicle claims assessors, was one of the pilot sites trialling the new range of reports. “In the past, we had found it particularly difficult to find a solution which delivered our exact requirements,” commented David Burchell, the firm’s Managing Director. “GlassMatix meets these requirements, providing us with transparent and credible documents in one easy step. The system is intuitive, user-friendly and does not require connection to the internet, which is very important when you are working remotely. Cost-effectiveness is crucial for us too. Rival systems are very cost prohibitive. With GlassMatix we can produce as many reports as we need to, and it is this flexibility which supports our ongoing drive for improved operational efficiency.”

Another independent assessment firm, GGB UK Ltd, has benefited from the additional functionalities integrated into GlassMatix. Terry Holland, Automotive Engineer/Assessor at GGB UK Ltd, comments: “Generating accurate and professional documents to support each repair claim is critical to what we do. The new suite of templates in GlassMatix helps us achieve this whilst reducing the potential for errors. It also allows us to work much more efficiently. We can now send all the paperwork out to the client on the same day, whereas we would previously have hand-written or typed up the required information several times before being able to submit full details to the insurer.”

With GlassMatix installed on a laptop, an independent assessor can produce estimates at the scene of the vehicle inspection without an internet connection, thereby improving productivity and reducing the potential for errors and omissions. Individual profiles can be set up to handle repeat work, storing specific customer details and common types of job.

GlassMatix integrates with the Thatcham Times System (TTS) database, Thatcham paint calculator, and Thatcham eScribe repair methods, and uses the latest parts pricing and part numbers from vehicle manufacturers. GlassMatix and Evaluator are both updated monthly, ensuring that all parties have access to the latest body repair and valuation data.
